My husband, Carl and I fell in love with Florida after visiting my Sister, Kay Smith every winter for about five years (Gulf side). After Carl’s brother and wife, Bob and Ruth Young, moved here, we visited them a few times. We loved Florida enough to sell our sweet little ranch home in the country and moved down here 2019. We also fell in love with Lighthouse Bible Church.
I was very lucky as a child to be born into a large family with seven children. My father was a Methodist minister, and as a family we loved music and we sang in the children’s choir and whenever we were in the car traveling, we were singing. I have no special talent "on loan from God.” I cannot play an instrument or read music, but I love to sing God's praises and feel very close to God when I am singing.
I felt inspired to try to incorporate more hymns along with more lively music into our church. After discussing my vision with our Pastor, I started our singing group not as a choir which implies a need to have a great voice, but for everyone who loves to sing and praise the Lord.
I decided to call our group “The Joyful Noise Makers,” taken from the bible verse, “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!” (Psalm 100:1, ESV). That is the whole idea!
We are meeting on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 at the church. May God bless our little church. I pray that we will joyfully praise his name thru song.
