Why Bible Study

Updated: May 13, 2023

Why do I need to study the Bible at home?  Why do I need to attend a Bible Study?  Why a men’s or woman’s Bible Study.  After all, I do go to a good church (Lighthouse Bible Church) that preaches His Word on Sunday.  Okay – are you left feeling – I have some questions?  Are you left feeling full of the Holy Spirit? Are you left feeling convicted?  If so, you have just basically answered your own questions.  You need to attend a Bible Study.

Do you feel somewhat embarrassed to discuss certain concerns you may have as a man in front of woman?  Then join a men’s group.  Do you feel somewhat embarrassed to discuss certain concerns you may have as a woman in front of men?  Then join a woman’s group.

A good interactive Bible Study, as I often experienced, is brought together with the Holy Spirit’s paralleling the sermon with the Bible Study going on at that time.

Ask anyone who has attended the Adult Bible Studies in the past – how many times our study has paralleled the “verse by verse,” exegetical preaching of Pastor Ted Dudak.  Even a visiting Pastor who preached on an upcoming Bible Study I was planning, wowed me, in astonishment, and had in his sermon so many of the verses that I planned to cover.

While an interactive Bible Study may answer your questions above, the particular study that day may not.  On the other hand, that day’s Preaching and/or Bible Study may just be what the Holy Spirit wants you to hear that day – perhaps to answer a question the you have or did not know you had.

However, when you see how the members interact with the study, you may begin to realize those who may be able to help you answer the questions you may have.  You will find some Godly friends, who, if they do not have your answer, will introduce you to whomever may be able to.  They will not only steer you in the right direction, but, I am positive that they will pray for you and your needs and all will remain confidential with that individual.

God does answer the prayers of the Saints, through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Christ, our Lord is the one and only intercessor and He does hear our prayers and makes them perfect before His Father, our Abba (Daddy).  The Lord has sent the Holy Spirit to us as a helper.  If we do not know what to pray, here is a verse to memorize.

Romans 8:26 (ESV)

26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Okay – That’ another Bible Study!
