After yet another test from James about not loving the world, he was certainly NOT referring to loving some of the things in this world. For instance, I love going to the mountains on vacation, I love sitting on the beach looking out at His creation, I love the sound of thunder storms, I love eating out at restaurants, and so on and so on.
What James is referring to is the love of this world's religions, priorities, agendas, desires, and its pleasures. This world doesn't belong to us, it belongs to Satan (under God's authority). Let the world love it, but let us be a light in it. Let's not get caught up in it's hatred.
As Jesus prayed in John 17, "Father, I ask that You do not take them out of this world, but to keep them from the evil one". Let's stay away from the evil one
